Therapeutic Areas of Interest & Why I have chosen to work at a pastoral counseling center:
I have worked for over thirty-five years in ministry and mental health counseling. Since 1989 I have been with the Pastoral Counseling Center beginning as a Staff Counselor, as Executive Director, and currently as Clinical Coordinator and Staff Counselor. My work is to bring the tools of modern psychological treatment together with the resources of faith, joining the client on their journey of growth and personal and spiritual development. My work centers on the concept of connection and disconnection with self, others and God and enabling connection with ourselves, others and God to become as fully an alive feeling person as we can be within our lives, community and in relation with our God. I work with people within their own worldview, using the resources of my own spiritual worldview to engage with and inform the work.
I work with clients of all ages, beginning with age ten, concerning any of life’s concerns and issues. Specific areas of concern are issues of development and growth through the life span, spiritual growth and development, healthy boundaries and communication, depression and anxiety, trauma, and family and couples work concerning relationships and communication. I have for many years worked with elders and their families and individuals and families dealing with issues of aging. I ran a bi-weekly group for participants of the Gathering Place (an adult day care program) focused on their spiritual life and concerns for many years.

Therapeutic Areas of Interest:

My therapeutic areas of interest have always been focused on finding ways to help people of all ages to restore balance within and regain alignment with their world. I believe that people who seek support from a counselor are experiencing a need to reestablish a sense of wholeness and well being. Adults, adolescents, children, families and couples may be experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, addictive behaviors, relational challenges, grief and loss, transitional issues. They may be encountering challenges in their personal, interpersonal and/or spiritual development. As a result, they may be feeling disconnected from the world around them. The work I love to do is to help people to help themselves to realign, regain a stronger sense of self, and restore feelings of joy and aliveness.

Why I have chosen to work at a pastoral counseling center:
Working at The Brattleboro Pastoral Counseling Center has provided me with a unique opportunity to incorporate the clients spiritual and/or religious resources and traditions in a clinical setting. During the healing process, many people draw strength and inner guidance from their spiritual connections. It is a guidance they learn to trust. A guidance that informs their world view and promotes healing and wholeness. When people feel better, they are open to experiencing joy and contributing more fully and harmoniously with the world.

Why I have chosen to work at a pastoral counseling center:

She describes her self as a social worker at heart and believes that building upon  strengths and empowering  individuals are essential to the therapy process.  When asked why she chose to work at a pastoral counseling center Kristin responds,  “An individual's spiritual life is  integral to who that person is as a whole; it is a source of strength and inspiration.   Even during times of extreme distress it is a source of hope.   I strive to provide a safe place for that inner spiritual life to be explored, nurtured, and strengthened, a place where clients are encouraged and supported in harnessing that strength as they embark on their healing journey.”
